Lady Chieftains Grab BVC Title

It was a big day for the Lady Chieftains at the BVC Championships Saturday. The team won their 3rd straight title in a close race. H-L scored 50 to edge Runner-Up Riverdale by 4 points. Taylor Leiter led the way, followed by Renae Kapelka, Corrin Hoover, Ashley Brickner, Taylor Joseph, Emma Shellhammer and Riley Suter for the scoring runners. Leiter earned 1st Team League Honors, Kapelka, Hoover and Brickner 2nd Team and Joseph Honorable Mention. The Junior High Girls also won the League, beating L-B in a close race. Scoring runners for the young Chieftains in order were Alivia Roerdink, Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Bria Crawford, Hanna Wyman, Emma Hintze and Kari Flechtner.
H-L Girls Win Fostoria Booster Invite

On a very hot, humid day, the Lady Chieftains persevered through poor conditions and had enough to finish 1st in the Fostoria Booster Invite, edging Carey 96-104. Gibsonburg was 3rd with 108, followed by Stryker, Old Fort, Danbuy, Tinora, Northwood, North Baltimore, Ayersville, New Riegel, Elmwood and Fostoria. Taylor Leiter led H-L, followed by Renae Kapleka, Ashley Brickner, Taylor Joseph, Corrin Hoover, Riley Suter and Emma Shellhammer to round out the scoring runners.
The Junior High team also had a big day, taking the Runner-Up spot in their race. Scoring for the Chieftains in order were Alivia Roerdink, Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Bria Crawford, Hanna Wyman, Kari Flechtner and Emma Hintze.
H-L Girls 4th @ Buckeye Central

The H-L Girls finished 4th of 12 teams at the Buckeye Central Invite on Saturday. Galion Northmor won the meet with 75 points, followed by Colonel Crawford with 85, Carey 111 and then the Chieftains with 114. Mapleton, Willard, Crestview, Clear Fork, Buckeye Central, Wynford, Plymouth and Mansfield St. Peter's followed H-L in the scoring. The Chieftains were led by Renae Kapleka, followed by Taylor Leiter. Ashley Brickner, Corrin Hoover, Taylor Joseph, Emma Shellhammer and Riley Suter rounded out the scoring runners.
The Junior High Girls finished 3rd of 8 teams. The scoring runners in order were Alivia Roerdink, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Bria Crawford, Emma Hintze, Kari Flechtner and Ruby Stone.
Lady Chieftains Have Big Day @ Widewater

The Lady Chieftains took the Runner-Up spot in the Widewater Invite, finishing behind the host Liberty Center Tigers 19-65. Montpelier was third with 113, followed by Antwerp, Stryker, Tinor, Plymouth and Hilltop. Renae Kapelka led the way, followed by Taylor Leiter, Corrin Hoover, Ashley Brickner, Taylor Joseph, Emma Shellhammer and Brook Breidenbach to round out the scoring runners.
The Junior High squad was 5th of 11 teams. The scoring runners in order were Alivia Roerdink, Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Emma Hintze, Kari Flechtner and Ruby Stone.
Chieftains Have Solid Showing @ Lakota

The Varisty Girls were 4th of 14 teams at the Lakota Invite, and the Junior High Girls were 6th of 14. Leading the way once again for the Chieftains was Renae Kapelka, followed by Taylor Leiter, Ashley Brickner, Corrin Hoover, Taylor Joseph, Emma Shellhammer and Riley Suter to score for H-L.
In the Junior HIgh Race, H-L was led by Alivia Roerdink's Top 10 finish. Hazel Stone, Hanna Wyman, Izzy Frankart, Bria Crawford, Jenna Brown and Kari Flechtner rounded out the Top Seven.
Lady Chieftain Grab Runner-Up @ Riverdale

The H-L Girls took the Runner -Up spot in the Riverdale Invite, dropping a close race to Carey 41-47. Host Riverdale was third with 63 followed by North Baltimore, Waynesfield-Goshen and McComb. Renae Kapelka led the team, followed closely by Taylor Leiter. Ashley Brickner, Corrin Hoover, Taylor Joseph, Brook Breidenbach and Emma Shellhammer finished out the scoring runners.
The Junior High Girls won their half of the Invite, holding off Upper Sandusky 33-48. St. Michael and Hardin Northern were third and fourth. The young Chieftains were led by the 1st and 2nd place finishes of Alivia Roerdink and Hazel Stone. Izzy Frankart, Bria Crawford, Hanna Wyman, Abby Oswalt and Emma Hintze rounded out the scoring runners.
Lady Chieftains Have Solid Showing @ Tiffin Carnival

The Lady Chieftain Varsity finished 12th of 31 teams in the Division IIB Race at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival on Saturday. Leading the Chieftains on the muddy course was Taylor Leiter, followed by Corrin Hoover, Renae Kapelka, Ashley Brickner and Taylor Joseph to round out the scoring runners. Kenzie Coleman was the leading lady in the Open Race.
The Junior HIgh girls finished 11th of 28 teams in their race. Alivia Roerdink was first for H-L, followed by Hazel Stone, Hanna Wyman, Izzy Frankart and Jenna Brown for the scoring runners. Abby Oswalt led the way in the Open Race.
Lady Chieftains 5th of 16 @ Columbus Grove

Lady Chieftain XC place 5th of 16 teams at the Columbus Grove Invite on Saturday. The home team won the meet with 85 points, followed by Woodmore with 92, Lincolnview with 116, Carey 148 and then H-L with 168. Botkins, Ayersville, Crestview, Mapleton, Hicksville, Fayette, Edgerton, Antwerp, Spencerville, New Riegel and McComb followed. Renae Kapelka led the Hopewell-Loudon squad and was followed by Taylor Leiter, Corrin Hoover, Ashley Brickner, Taylor Joseph, Emma Shellhammer and Brook Breidenbach to round out the scoring runners.
The Junior High girls were 6th of 16 teams. They were led by Alivia Roerdink. The rest of the scoring runners were Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Ruby Stone, Bria Crawford and Jenna Brown in that order.
Lady Chieftain Take 3rd @ Tiger Classic

The Lady Chieftains opened the season with a 3rd place finish @ the Seneca East Tiger Classic. Norwalk St. Paul won the meet with 88 points, followed by the host Tigers of Seneca East with 112. H-L scored 116 to finish ahead of Loudonville with 140, Smithville 148, Gibsonburg 174, Wynford 187, Mapleton 198, Mohawk 233, Ridgedale 263, Old Fort 282, Open Door Christian 290, North Baltimore 291, Lakota 304, Mansfield St. Peter 318 and Hardin Northern 421.
Renae Kapelka led the Chieftains with a 22:55, followed by Taylor Leiter 22:57, Corrin Hoover23:13, Ashley Brickner 23:57, Taylor Joseph 23:59, Brook Breidenbach 26:12 and Emma Shellhammer 26:19 to round out the scoring runners.
The Junior High Lady Chieftains were 4th of 10 teams in their race. Alivia Roerdink led the way with a 14:01 and was followed by Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Bria Crawford, Jenna Brown and Ruby Stone as the scoring runners.
