Lady Chieftains Fail to Advance from Regionals

A great season for the Lady Chieftains XC Team ended at the Tiffin Regional Meet on Saturday, as the girls failed to advance to the State Meet, finishing 16th of the 24 teams.  The Top 8 teams advance to the State Meet. H-L was led by Taylor Leiter, followed by Renae Kapelka, Corrin Hoover, Emily Pace, Taylor Joseph, Ashley Brickner and Bailey Jameson.

Lady Chieftains Take District Championship

The H-L Girls added a District Championship to their impressive season on Saturday at Amann's Park in Galion. They edged Huron 78-81 for 1st place in the 15 school race. All seven Lady Chieftains finished in the top 23 of the 81 total runners.  They were led by Taylor Leiter in 11th, Emily Pace 13th, Renae Kapleka 17th, Corrin Hoover 18th, Taylor Joseph 19th, Bailey Jameson 21st and Ashley Brickner 23rd. The team's depth showed as our 7th runner finished ahead of every other school's 4th runner.  Congratulations on a big win !! 

Runners of the Week for Week #8

In Week #8 the Lady Chieftains wrapped up the BVC Championship for the second year in a row, knocking off Liberty-Benton 32-44 for the title.  Gaining 1st Team Honors were Taylor Leiter and Renae Kapelka.  Second Team Honors went to Emily Pace, Corrin Hoover and Taylor Joseph.  Grabbing Honorable Mentions were Ashley Brickner, Bailey Jameson and Camie Tidswell.

Brook Breidenbach ran a very strong race, getting one of the few PRs on the day. It was the third year in a row Renae Kapelka gained 1st Team Honors.  That made these two our Runners of the Week !!  Nice Job. Ladies !!

Lady Chieftians Win 2nd Straight BVC Title

The Lady Chieftains won their second straight BVC Title on Saturday @ Owens Community College in Findlay, beating Liberty-Benton for the title 32-44. Taylor Lieter led the way with a 6th place finish, followed closely by Renae Kapelka in 7th.  Both earned 1st Team League Honors.  Emily Pace and Corrin Hoover earned 2nd Team Honors with their 8th and 9th place finishes.  Checking in with Honorable Mentions were Ashley Brickner 15th, Bailey Jameson 17th and Camie Tidswell with a 21st.

The JH team finished 2nd to Liberty Benton, 25-32, But the Chieftains did have the Individual Champion with Alivia Roerdink's 1st place finish.  Hanna Wyman also gained Top Ten honors with a 9th place finish.

The H-L girls came through with another championship at the Fostoria Booster Invite, battling the heat, humidity and wind to knock off Liberty Center 48-59.  Taylor Leiter set the early tone of the race, leading the way for the Chieftains most of the way and finishing second on the team.  Bailey Jameson finished very strong, passing three Liberty Center runners in the last 300 meters of the race.  That makes these two our Runners of the Week!

In the Junior High Race, Lilianna Ortiz had the only PR of the day to gain the weekly honors for the team.

The Lady Chieftains took home another Invite Championship with a win at Fostoria on Saturday, beating Libertry Center 48-59 for 1st Place in the 12 team field.  Corrin Hoover led with an 8th place, right behind her was Taylor Leiter in 9th, Renae Kapelka 13th, Emily Pace 17th, Taylor Joseph 19th, Ashley Brickenr 21st and Bailey Jameson 22nd. 

The JH squad placed 4th of 6 teams and were led by Alivia Roerdink with a 7th place, followed by Hazel Stone, Hanna Wyman, Emma Shellhammer, Izzy Frankart, Kari Felchtner and Ainsly Roush for the scoring runners. 

The girls will compete in the Blancard Valley Conference League Meet this Saturday in Findlay.

Runners of the Week for Week #6

There were many great performances in Week #6, that included an impressive run for the Buckeye Central Invite Championship.  Corrin Hoover came close to a PR and led the team for the fifth time this season, continuing a very strong season.  Madisen Crites-Kline and Kenzie Coleman had two of the bigger PRs in this race, both shaving off almost a full minute.  That gave these three the Runners of the Week Honors.

In the JH action, the team also ran very well at Buckeye Central.  Trinity Reinhard and Hazel Stone ahd big PRs to gain the Weekly Honors for the young Chieftains.

The H-L girls used a 37 second pack time for their first five runners and 1:07 for their first seven to gain the Buckeye Central Championship on Saturday by a 47-63 score over Galion Northmor in the eleven team field.  The Lady Chieftains were paced by Corrin Hoover with an 8th place, Emily Pace 9th, Taylor Leiter 10th, Renae Kapelka 13th. Taylor Joseph 14th, Ashley Brickner 21st and Bailey Jameson 23rd for the Top 7 places.  Seniors Jazmine Nutter and Camie Tidswell also had Career PRs.

In the Junior High Race, the Chieftains were 3rd of 8 teams with Alivia Roerdink leading the way with a 7th place finish, followed by Hazel Stone, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Emma Shellhammer, Kari Flechtner and Emily Foster to round out the scoring runners.

Week #5 was highlighted by a very exciting and close race @ the Liberty Center Widewater Invite.  The H-L girls were Runner-Up to the host team in a tight 52-54 finish, placing 6 in the Top 25.  Taylor Joseph is feeling like herself again and had a GREAT race, coming in as our #3 runner.  Ashley Brickner also stepped up in a big way, coming in at #5 with a strong finish.  That makes these two our Runners of the Week.

In the Junior High race, Alivia Roerdink placed 9th of 147 runners with a big PR, and Lilianna Ortiz continues to show how much she has improved from last season with a lot of hard work and determination.  They get the JH Honors.

H-L Runner-Up @ Widewater

The H-L team was second to Liberty Center in the Widewater Invite on Saturday. as the home team won an extremely close race 52-54.  There were 15 schools involved, with 9 full teams and 100 runners. The Chieftains were led by Renae Kapelka with a 7th place, followed by Taylor Leiter 8th, Taylor Joseph 17th, Emily Pace 20th, Ashley Brickner 22nd, Corrin Hoover 23rd and Bailey Jameson 28th to round out the scoring runners.  The Top 25 finishers received medals.

In the Junior HIgh Race, the Lady Chieftains were 6th of 14 teams.  They were led by Alivia Roerdink in 9th, Izzy Frankart 56th, Hazel Stone 58th, Hanna Wyman 76th and  Kari Flechtner 88th in the top 5 spots.  There were 147 runners competing.

Week #4 was a Great week to be a Lady Chieftain XC Runner.  The girls won both the Riverdale and the Lakota Invites, with lots of different runners stepping up to help the cause.  Renae Kapleka was our #2 runner at Riverdale and #3 at Lakota, throwing in a big PR at the latter.  Shanny Strahm also had a  big PR in the Lakota race, almost a minute!  That's why these two were our Runners of th Week.

In the Junior High races, Hazel Stone stepped up to be the #2 runner in both races and Kari Flechtner has just been getting stronger and stronger each week.  Those two received the JH honors.

Lady Chieftains Win Lakota Invite

The Chiefain XC Team made it two Invites in one week when they won the Lakota Invite on Saturday.  The Lady Chieftains placed 4 runners in the Top 10 (see picture) and used a strong pack to come out on top in the 9 team race.  Corrin Hoover led the way with a 6th place, followed by Taylor Leiter 7th, Renae Kapelka 8th, Emily Pace 10th, Taylor Joseph 25th, Camie Tidswell 32nd and Jazmine Nutter 33rd finished out H-L's top seven.

The Junior HIgh team was led by Alivia Roerdink with a 14th place finish as the young Chieftains finished 6th of 10 teams.  Hazel Stone, Emma Shellhammer, Hanna Wyman and Izzy Frankart rounded out the scoring runners for the Chieftains.

Lady Chieftains Take Riverdale Invite

The Lady Chieftains won the Riverdale Invite on Thursday evening by six points over D1 Sylvania Northview, 46-52.  Emily Pace led the Chieftain efforts with an 8th place finish.  She was followed by Renae Kapelka 9th, Taylor Leiter 11th, Ashley Brickner 15th, Corrin Hoover 16th, Camie Tidswell 21st and Brook Breidenbach 30th to round out the Chieftain's Top 7.

A great day at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival highlighted the Lady Chieftains efforts on Saturday.  The team finished 5th of 33 teams, but on the tough Carnival course there were not many PRs for the Varsity squad. That didn't stop Riley Suter from taking a huge 1 minute and 9 seconds off her season's best time.  And Bailey Jameson, while she didn't PR for the season, was 1 minute and 15 seconds faster than her time on the course last year and she finished 35 places higher!  That makes these two our Runners of the Week.

In the Junior High Race, Hanna Wyman and Izzy Frankart both ran PRs and helped the team to an 8th place finish among the 27 teams.  A great day for Chieftain XC !!!

Lady Chieftain Shine @Tiffin Carnival

The Lady Chieftains had their best finish ever in the Division 2B Race at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival.  They placed 5th of 33 teams in the race.  The team was led by Corrin Hoover with a 21:10.  Following Corrin to the finish line were Emily Pace 21:31, Taylor Leiter 21:35, Renae Kapelka 22:06, Ashley Brickner 22:51, Bailey Jameson 22:54 and Taylor Joseph 23:27.  Jazmine Nutter led the Open Runners with a 23:24.

The Junior High team finished 8th of 27 teams in their race.  The five scoring runners in order were Alivia Roerdink, Izzy Frankart, Hanna Wyman, Hazel Stone and Kari Flechtner.

The meet ar Columbus Grove produced a total of 15 PRs and many solid performances. Camie Tidswell ran a big PR and her first 22 of the year, finishing as our 6th runner.  Jazmine Nutter came within 2 seconds of her Career PR in a very strong race.  Those performances make them this week's Runners of the Week !!

In Junior High action, Alivia Roerdink ran the first 13 of the year for the team and had a great finish, while Emily Foster reduced her time by almost a minute from the first week. These two gained the week's honors for the Junior High Team.

Lady Chieftains Grab 4th @ Columbus Grove Invite

The Lady Chieftain XC team had another successful day at the Columbus Grove Invite on Saturday.  They place 4th of 13 teams in a very competitive race.  Corrin Hoover once again led the way with a 20:52, followed by Taylor Leiter 21:01, Emily Pace 21:14, Renae Kapelka 21:57, Bailey Jameson 22:38, Camie Tidswell 22:59 and Ashley Brickner 23:07 to round out the Top 7 scoring runners. The team will compete at the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival next Saturday morning.

Runners of the Week for Week #1

The Lady Chieftains had a very successful first meet at Seneca East with many solid performances.  Two of them stood out a little.  Emily Pace had a Career PR in her first race as a Senior, and was the third runner in for the Chieftains.  Taylor Leiter used her first Varsity Race ever to end up on the Top 16 Podium at the Awards Ceremony.  What a start !!  This made these two the Runners of the Week.

In Junior High, Emma Shellhammer and Ainsley Roush were the Runners of the Week as they both had Career PRs and were wonderful leaders for the 7th graders in the first race for them.

Lady Chieftain XC Runner-Up @ Tiger Classic

The Lady Chieftains got off to a great start with a Runner-Up finish at the Seneca East Tiger Classic on Saturday.  Corrin Hoover was the top runner followed by Taylor Leiter, Emily Pace, Renae Kapelka, Ashley Brickner,Taylor Joseph and Bailey Jameson to round out the top seven scoring runners. Liberty Center topped H-L 65-80 and Fairfield took third in the 15 team field.
